IWIN Button

PMOTS of Shieldbreaker

a.k.a. The Shield

This device is still largly an unknown quantity. Most discussion has centered around its long term effects on those under its "protection".

When activated, it springs up from an unknown source, though it is in the souther sky when in Cairo. A shield surrounds the earth, through which matter may pass, but electromagnetic radiation may not. Meaning bombs may get through, but radio may not.

The exact altitude of the shield is unkown, but it seems to be somewhere in MEO. Satellites in HEO are cut off, but space stations in LEO still suffer the "blocking out of the sun".

Further, there is a delayed shut down time on the shield. The shield opens from the dark side of the earth (at a point opposite the sun) to the light side (point closest to the sun). Of the two or three times we've turned the shield on (each time longer than the last), this was observed as a longer delay, the longer we kept the shield active. The suns radiation is charging the field, and causing it to go down slower. Sparks theorizes that absorbed incoming enemy directed enery weapons will lengthen this effect. This is also true if the shield is just left on too long, that it will absorb enough of the suns radiation that it will not shut down. So if enough enemy DEW or sun is absorbed the shield may not go down in our lifetimes, which may cause catastrophic effects, the least of which is a generation long war between the Beautiful Underground Greenhouse Sexophiles (BUGS) and the Damp Amonia Breathing Murlocs.

The actual part of the IWIN Button that is portable is a large desktop, slightly larger than 3' by 5', covered in two square patterns of 1000 buttons each. Each button has a unique ancient egyptian heiroglyph. There is one large red "IWIN Button" in the middle of the table between the two banks.

The code is of an unknown length unless one has the Cylindrical Egyptian Heiroglyph Rubics Cube, at which point it drops in size down to a VLN, meaning it cannot be hacked or broken. As the code is changing with time, it is effectively and practically unbreakable. The entire assembly appears to be made out of a cast stone, which is both very hard, and does not allow any access to the interior workings.
