Adventures in Dagger Falls
Session 6 04-28-07
2 days after the heroes get back with the kids.
5th of Highsun (8):
We make it back to much fan-fare. We are given a much needed rest.
We all part ways to relax. The parents keep running up to us offer us (farmer) rewards.
Talk to Serethin about forming an 'adventuring' group. He goes to talk to Derrik, the captain of the Militia, to find what is going on.
Before head died, he told Zhent activity at a caravan stop over at ar'hegard.
They sent 4 people including Alisa Tommar, elf ranger named Eltin, Human cleric named Quinn, and human fighter named Rick. They had a wand of sending to send word back, but they haven't heard word, though they should have arrived.
We all agree to head out there...
Serethin looks to have someone who can follow a trail. Derrik suggests Erik, who can follow a trail, track, and is good with a bow.
We decide to leave in an hour.
Three to four days travel...
End of the first day, we meet erik... Erik explains that it is a stop over for Caravans. When dagger falls was retaken, it was a good striking point. There was, at one point, some fortification. All that is left is berms and earth.
On the second day, it begins to rain... heavily... as the day goes on, it keeps going. Erik picks a good trial, higher ground.
On the third day, the rain continues. It rained all night. The rain begins to let up a bit, but it is still very damp in the air.
Near the end of the third day, we get close to what should have been one of there meeting spots/camping spots.
Entering a clearing, Portt and I see off to the side a body of a horse. Looking closer, there could be 5 horses.
Erik points that this would have been a good spot to camp at. As we get closer, we see the 5 horses, arranged around a camp site. They are all dead from some sort of claw mark. They have been fed on.
Serethin notices a path that has been cleared through the trail. Not really a path, but something has moved through it. And he points it out to us. (Trial goes to the southeast)
I dismount to inspect the bodies.
Find three auras with detect magic. Wand (21 - Conjuration)), Small Clay Pot (4) , Small Eyeglass (monical) (12). And all sorts of gear, though no weapons/armor. Not all the gear is theirs, there seems to be some Zhent gear as well.
Eric points to the Northeast, that there is another path, that a horsemen took.
I use the wand to tell them that we found the camp, no bodies, there was a battle. They respond saying wand only had 4 (now 3) charges, follow survivers, good luck.
We follow the trail southeast.
After 15 minute down the trial, eric asks us to stop. He says that it isn't one big creature... but probably a pack.
After an hour and a half, as the path narrows more and more, eventually it nearlly disappears, or disperses.
We move a bit off the trail to make camp.

The sound, that Autumn hears comes for the northeast, the way we came. We hear a dragging and talking... a lot of it as a lot of things talking.
The dragged object goes 'thump' and we roll init.
We fight 20 gibbering monkies... Serethin is swarmed, we win.
In the morning, we head further along the path. After a day, we see the trail splitting, and Portt hears faint gibbering, and Amathyst sees a cliff ahead.
Serethin moves up to the cliff, and bends his head over the cliff, and he hears a BUNCH of gibbering from within the cave
I use a charge of the sending wand to talk to Quinn (the cleric) but there is no response. (2 charges left)
Serethin remembers that these are called Gibberlings, which came out of the underdark.
We head back to follow the other trail... taking two days to get to there.
We've returned to the original campsite.
